The RTCU product line currently includes 13 different hardware variants covering a broad range of I/O configurations, environments and applications.
All RTCU products are based on the RTCU M2M Platform and are therefore fully programmability using the RTCU IDE Development Environment.

Products and services are delivered according to the conditions in the User License Agreement and Limited Warranty.


All RTCU products are produced according to the European Union's (EU) Restriction on use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC.

RTCU AX9 turbo

The RTCU AX9 turbo adds a new chapter to the highly successful era of the RTCU AX9i series offering a wide range of new features and performance improvement - not only due to the powerful NX32 Execution Architecture, but also with the addition of on-board Ethernet and a 3G/HSDPA GSM engine.
The RTCU AX9 turbo is designed according to the highest technical standards for today's professional M2M telemetry applications.

The RTCU AX9 turbo is offering a long range of new features and performance improvements, while still resting on the proven track-record and confidence of the
RTCU AX9i series.

The RTCU AX9 turbo uses the next generation NX32 execution model and is fully backward compatible with the X32 execution model. Existing software will therefore be able to operate without any changes or costly re-testing. Mechanically and electrically the RTCU AX9 turbo is back-ward compatible with the RTCU AX9i pro and constitutes therefore a direct plug-in replacement.

For the most demanding applications the RTCU AX9 turbo operates with GSM 3G/HSDPA and also offers on-board Ethernet for the most flexible connectivity options.

The RTCU AX9 turbo rests on the RTCU M2M Platform, that brings all the necessary tools together to develop, implement and maintain today’s sophisticated M2M/IoT applications.

RTCU AX9 encore

The RTCU AX9 encore is a cost-efficient device based on the full powered RTCU AX9 turbo offering a wide range of features and performance critical features such as full support for the NX32 Execution Architecture.
The
RTCU AX9 encore is designed according to the highest technical standards for today's professional M2M telemetry applications.

The RTCU AX9 encore uses the next generation NX32 execution model and is fully backward compatible with the X32 execution model. RTCU MX2 turbo

The RTCU MX2 turbo is one of the most advanced RTCU devices available today.
It has been designed for a broad variety of advanced telemetry / telematics applications and is made according to the highest technical standards for professional automotive and industrial use. This is the first device to use the new NX32 Execution Architecture,
that includes Intellisync Project Drive synchronization.



The RTCU MX2 turbo is offering a long range of new features and performance improvements while still resting on the proven track-record and confidence of the former RTCU MX2i series.

The RTCU MX2 turbo uses the next generation NX32 execution model and is fully backward compatible with the X32 execution model of the former RTCU MX2i series. The product has all necessary regulatory approvals – including 2004/104/EC / UN ECE R10 – edition 3 and CE mark.

For demanding applications the RTCU MX2 turbo perates with GSM 3G/HSDPA and is also available in a version with World-wide Quad-band GSM.

The positioning is enhanced with a state-of-the-art GNSS receiver with GPS, GLONASS and QZSS support.

The RTCU MX2 encore uses the next generation NX32 execution model and is fully backward compatible with the X32 execution model of the former RTCU MX2i series. Existing software will therefore be able to operate without any changes or costly re-testing. Mechanically and electrically the RTCU MX2 encore is back-ward compatible with the RTCU MX2i eco+ and the RTCU MX2i pro and constitutes therefore in most cases a direct plug-in replacement.

The RTCU MX2 encore includes many sophisticated standard features and can be further upgraded as required with the following on-demand hardware features: 

CAN 2.0B     CAN controller with hardware filtering.

Internal SIM

RTCU CX1 warp mk2 series

The RTCU CX1 warp mk2 series offers world-wide UMTS/HSPA support and a state-of-the-art GNSS positioning engine.
Available in just two variants taking advantage of the powerful "
hardware on-demand" where options can be applied any time - even remotely after installation!
 

The RTCU CX1 warp mk2 series are compact, waterproof and ruggedized telematics tracking and control devices, based on the powerful X32-architecture. The series sports a long list of standard features and can be further upgraded when required with powerful on-demand hardware options.

The RTCU CX1 warp mk2 series are available in two versions: 

  •  RTCU CX1 warp 3G
     
    With RS232/FMI and 1-wire, but no CAN bus.
  •  RTCU CX1 warp-c 3G 
     
    With CAN bus, but no RS232/FMI or 1-wire.

Except for the differences listed above the two variants are identical.

The RTCU CX1 warp mk2 series is designed for a broad variety of advanced telemetry / telematics applications and has been manufactured according to the highest technical standards for professional automotive and industrial use.  The product has all necessary regulatory approvals – including 2004/104/EC / UN ECE R10 and CE mark.

RTCU DX4i pro mk2


The RTCU DX4i pro mk2 offers a world-wide communication solution with its Penta-band UMTS/HSPA engine combined with a large 4 MB internal flash drive, 4.5 MB of datalogger/persistent memory in addition to dual RS485 channels, high-precision analog inputs and finally USB as programming port. All based on the RTCU M2M Platform!

The RTCU DX4i pro mk2 has been designed from the ground up for professional wireless industrial applications with its strong on-board I/O capabilities and multiple communication interfaces such as: dual RS232, dual RS485, 1-Wire, CAN and USB. 

Housed in a standard DIN-rail encapsulation, it is a perfect component for automation and control applications.

The on-board I/O system can be expanded almost indefinitely and completely transparently by adding external MODBUS compatible I/O modules. This unique I/O expansion capability, combined with the ability to operate as a MODBUS master and slave simultaneously, positions the RTCU DX4i pro mk2 as the perfect product for SCADA-like applications.

The RTCU DX4i warp is a new member in the powerful RTCU DX4 series offering a major boost in capacity and performance.  The product now hosts a large 4 MB internal flash drive, 4.5 MB of datalogger/persistent memory for the most demanding M2M applications. The product uses  the powerful "hardware on-demand" concept where actual hardware features can be added whenever needed.
The RTCU DX4i warp is 100% backward compatible with the former RTCU DX4 flex.


The RTCU DX4i warp has been designed from the ground up for professional wireless industrial applications with its strong on-board I/O capabilities and powerful communication interfaces.

Housed in a standard DIN-rail encapsulation it is a perfect component for automation and control applications.

The on-board I/O system can be expanded almost indefinitely and completely transparently by adding external MODBUS compatible I/O modules. This unique I/O expansion capability, combined with the ability to operate as a MODBUS master and slave simultaneously, positions the RTCU DX4i warp as the perfect product for SCADA-like applications.

RTCU SX1 series

The RTCU SX1 is a stand-alone tracking, monitoring and data collection device designed for applications, which require extremely long operating time without access to external power. Based on the X32 generation of RTCU products the SX1 series introduces zero-power saving mode reducing the power consumption in the deepest hibernation mode to virtually nothing. This state-of-the-art technology allows the unit to operate as long as 10 years with no external power!

The RTCU SX1 is a compact tracking, monitoring and data collection device especially designed for stand-alone as well as extremely long operating time in harsh environments. The product is fully integrated in an IP66 ingress-protected ruggedized plastic box, that can withstand years of operation. The zero-power saving mode allows the unit to enter power saving mode - waking up on the on-board 3D accelerometer, digital input change or after a certain time period – and to stay in this mode virtually forever only limited by the battery technology in use!

The RTCU SX1 series is available in versions for standard GSM (RTCU SX1 pro) and railroad based GSM-R (RTCU SX1 pro-r) for advanced and reliable asset tracking in a wide range of application segments. The RTCU SX1 series has support for medium range wireless communication using the ISM 868 MHz frequency band. This feature allows implementation of wireless sensors, RF-tracking and simple remote key fob applications.

For usage in various application scenarios there is no less than four on-board battery configurations available ranging up to a massive 58 Ah non-rechargeable pack.
The RTCU SX1 series has on-board antennas for GSM, GPS and ISM RF with an optional feature to use external antennas for longer range or for specialized applications, where the unit is installed in metal enclosures etc. Switching back and forth from internal to external GSM/ISM antennas can even be controlled programmatically by the application.

In addition to the powerful features allowing long-term autonomous operation the RTCU SX1 series also offers the possibility to operate from external power and has digital and analog I/O as well as 1-wire and an RS232 port available for the most demanding applications. For flexible external interfacing the three PG7 blinds can be substituted with PG7 glands for IP66 protected cable entry.

For RTCU SX1 series has many other sophisticated features such as: Micro SD-CARD with up to 32 GB capacity and a 512 Kbyte internal flash drive with a FAT32 compatible file-system for easy sharing of files locally and remotely with a PC/server.

RTCU Gateway 2

The RTCU Gateway 2 is a middleware-solution that allows easy communication, access and maintenance of remote units connected using TCP/IP communication technology.
RTCU Gateway 2 is a powerful and advanced solution to support the most demanding application scenarios. The communication core is optimized for multiple gateway instances operating in high-end 64 bit server environments.

RTCU Deployment Server


The RTCU Deployment Server (RDS) offers sophisticated features for maintaining application/firmware etc. in a large scale installation of RTCU devices remotely connected to the RTCU Gateway 2.

The RTCU Deployment Server can be configured by the user to insure that the specified units is operating with the correct firmware, application or a generic file. The RTCU Deployment Server will automatically insure that the units are upgraded as requested and this task will even take place during FULL operation of the unit. Any interruption in an the upgrade attempt will be automatically handled and resumed to avoid any waste of expensive bandwidth.

  •  Uses the RTCU Gateway 2 to establish a connection to remote units.

RTCU MICRO STANDARD APPLICATION

The RTCU MICRO Standard application offers extremely easy setup/use of the unit for simple applications not requiring the full flexibility of the RTCU IDE programming environment. The pre-programmed functionality allows generating SMS-messages and/or calling up with user recorded voice message on the leading and/or falling edge of an input. By sending an user defined SMS-message or calling the unit using voice/DTMF the outputs can be controlled. Temperature monitoring and GPS functionality for geofencing are also included in the standard application. The configuration is performed either by sending SMS-messages to the unit or by using the RTCU Micro Configuration Tool available free of charge.

The NMP platform works on almost any Microsoft Windows CE 5.0

Garmin Fleet Management / Navigation Interface




The Garmin Fleet Management / Navigation API supports implementation of advanced fleet management applications integrating Navigation, Two-way messaging, Driver identification and Job dispatch capabilities. The Job dispatch functionality includes advanced features such as support for routes with multiple stops, route optimization and periodic Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) notifications.

The RTCU CX1 warp series and the RTCU MX2 turbo can be connected to certain navigation devices from Garmin allowing the development of highly advanced Fleet Management, Messaging and Navigation applications.

To connect the RTCU device to the Garmin Navigation device a special interface cable is required. It is also possible to connect the Garmin device to the RTCU Emulator allowing development of complete Fleet Management applications within the RTCU IDE environment.

Logic IO is offering interface cables as well as Garmin Navigation devices constituting a complete solution. Currently we are offering the Garmin Dezl 570 and Garmin Dezl 770 professional navigators.

RF add-on modules

RF add-on modules for the AX9i pro / AX9 turbo / CX1 warp series

Wireless connectivity is becoming a feature of choice for many applications, today. By using an off the-shelf embedded wireless module, the customer gets the benefit of using field proven RF hardware and protocol software to ensure the best performance possible. RF functionality of the RTCU units are designed to effortlessly interface with virtually any control, command, or monitoring applications for building automation systems, security systems, and industrial applications. The easy configurable network allows adapting to changing floor plans and requirements in a matter of minutes. New sensors and devices can be added to the network, as fast as they can be mounted.

The highly sophisticated RF protocol implemented offers bi-directional communication with increased operational reliability and improves the basis for an extensive range of devices. Additionally the bidirectional communication ensures, that the tasks are received and accomplished correctly.

Currently four main categories of add-on modules are supported:

Remote control keyfobs: With remote control keyfobs the user defined functionality on the RTCU unit can be controlled.

External relay modules: The relay modules provide relay outputs, which can be controlled remotely and are capable of switching external AC or DC powered loads.

AC switching modules: The modules can be plugged directly into a wall receptacle and are capable of switching devices.

Remote sensors: A variety of sensors can be connected to the RTCU unit remotely, which make them usable in wide variety of applications cost and time effectively.

Currently the RF add-on modules are supported by the RTCU CX1 warp series, RTCU AX9 turbo and the RTCU SX1 series.

WLAN/Ethernet module for the MX2 turbo / DX4 pro

The WLAN-100 / ETH-100 add-on module allows connection to the RTCU Gateway Professional or to any TCP/IP socket enabled device through either a standard LAN or through an increasing number of Wi-Fi hot-spots globally available. Using (W)LAN in many cases means that large amount of data can be transferred for FREE or at a very low cost. The WLAN-100 / ETH-100 supplements mobile data and both communication methods can be used selectable under full control of the VPL application.

The WLAN-100 supports connection to a standard Wi-Fi access point and is supplied with the necessary interface cable for the MX2 turbo or DX4 pro and a SMA antenna.

The ETH-100 supports connection to a standard Ethernet 10/100 Mbps cable infrastructure and is supplied with the necessary interface cable for the MX2 turbo or DX4 pro and a RJ45 patch cable.

Advanced configuration is supported using an easy to use web-based interface, where various parameters such as DHCP / IP-address, net-mask and security parameters are configured. Supports security using WEP, WPA and WPA2.

The 2 Megapixel Camera for the RTCU MX2 turbo and  RTCU DX4 pro extends the functionality of the RTCU platform with the capability to take high-resolution colour pictures in standard JPEG format. The pictures taken can be transmitted over the
network to a server and/or saved to an SD-CARD file.

The 2 Megapixel Camera supports implementation of applications such as:

Mounting bracket for the RTCU MX2 Series

The Mounting bracket is used in the cases were screw-hole mounting is required for the RTCU MX2 Series.
Installation is very easy as the bracket is designed to simply fit on the MX2 Series without need for any tools. The rubber gasket between the bracket and the MX2 Series insures that when the bracket is fastened with the two screw-holes onto the surface it will remain in place.

MX2 Series front end-cap with hidden SIM card reader

In the MX2 Series the SIM card is by standard easily accessible from the outside, which is a huge advantage in most applications.

For special requirements an alternative front end-cap with the SIM card reader hidden behind the front end-cap can be delivered. Using this front-end cap it is therefore necessary to unscrew the front end-cap to gain access to the SIM card.

The installation is easy by a simply exchange of the standard front end-cap supplied with any MX2i Series unit

Modular 1-Wire

Modular 1-Wire concept

The modular 1-Wire concept is offering high flexibility and customization for a wide range of applications utilizing multiple 1-Wire devices. The 1-Wire concept is based on building blocks such as combiners, splitters and unit interface cables connected together with standard and widely available RJ45 UTP cable technology.

Unit interface cables are available which connect the RTCU unit to a splitter or combiner, that again connects to branches with more splitters and combiners and at the end-points of this arbitrary topology various lengths of 1-Wire devices such temperature sensors or ID-button readers can be connected. As the backbone is based on standard RJ45 UTP cable technology expanding a network can easily be achieved.

Modular 1-Wire unit interface cable

The modular 1-Wire interface cable makes the physical bridge to the modular 1-Wire network. The modular network can easily be customized with the use of standard RJ-45 splitters and combiners to achieve the needed 1-Wire network. Multiple 1-Wire devices such as temperature sensors and ID-Button readers can be connected to one RTCU unit.

The modular 1-Wire interface cables are available for the MX2 series, the DX4/AX9 series and the CX1i flex/pro. The modular 1-Wire interface are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to a combiner if only a single 1-Wire device is connected. For multiple 1-Wire devices a splitter can be used. No external power supply is required as the 1-Wire devices derives power directly from the 1-Wire bus simplifying installation.

Modular 1-Wire temperature sensor

The modular 1-Wire temperature sensor are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to the modular 1-Wire network via a combiner or splitter allowing easy installation in any application. The temperature sensor offers an accuracy of typical +/- 0.5ºC and ranges from –55ºC to +125ºC.

The communication between the RTCU unit and the temperature sensor is done through the 1-Wire interface, requiring only a single wire and a ground to establish the data connection. No external power supply is needed as the temperature sensor derives power directly from the 1-wire bus simplifying application set-up. From the RTCU application temperatures are measured with a simple function similar to the known board temperature function. The temperature sensor has a unique factory-lasered 64-bit serial number allowing connection of multiple temperature sensors on the same 1-Wire bus.

The Modular 1-Wire temperature sensor can be delivered in two length; 3 or 10 meters of cable with a RJ-45 for easy installation into the modular 1-Wire network. If another length is required the modular 1-Wire network is easy expandable with a combiner or splitter and standard UTP network cable.

Modular 1-Wire ID-Button reader

The modular 1-wire ID-Button reader features an easy to install and easy to use 1-Wire ID-Button reader with controllable LED indicator.  The modular 1-Wire ID-Button reader are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to the modular 1-Wire network via a combiner or splitter allowing easy installation in any application. The ID-Button reader offers a way to uniquely identify persons or items equipped with ID-buttons.

The communication between the RTCU unit and the ID-Button reader is done through the 1-Wire interface, requiring a single data wire, a ground to establish the data connection, an extra wire is dedicated for controlling the LED present in the ID-Button reader. No external power supply is needed as the ID-Button reader derives power directly from the 1-wire bus simplifying application set-up. From the RTCU application reading an ID-Button and controlling the LED indicator is easily done with function call. IDButtons with on-board non-volatile memory is also available for storing data directly in the ID-Button.
